Epic gets ready to roll out another update to Fortnite. The Patch v5.30 is slated to arrive at all platforms – PS4, Xbox One, PC, Switch and Mobile – tomorrow, August 23, and it will introduce a new new item in Battle Royale mode. Update: The new update is alive, it causes Rift-to-Go and more.]
As usual, the update will take place with a round of maintenance scheduled to begin early in the morning at 1:00 PT / 4 AM ET / 9 AM BST. Epic has not estimated how long the maintenance lasts, but during this time, the servers will be disconnected, so you can not jump into Battle Royale matches until the maintenance period is complete.
Epic has also not confirmed what new item will be available as part of the 5.30 update, but Fortnite's New Updates feed lists list one called Rift-to-Go as "coming soon" and hint that tomorrow's addition to the game's growing arsenal will be tomorrow. The accompanying description reads: "A rift you carry in your pocket! Teleporter over your current location and slide down."
Meanwhile, players only have more time to participate in Fortnites most recent time-limited modes, Soaring 50s and Sniper Shootout. Both are scheduled to end August 23th, making this your last chance to participate in either before leaving the rotation. The Soaring 50s is a new take on 50v50 mode with many more Launch Pads, Boost Pads and Impulse Grenades, while Sniper Shootout only has a type of weapon: sniper rifles.
While Fortnite's new update is on its way soon, the next batch of weekly challenges will appear a bit later than usual. Epic announced on Twitter that the week's 7 challenges will end on Friday 24th. August instead of Thursday as they usually do. The developer did not explain the reason for this delay.
