The manufacturers of a luxury vehicle billed as a ‘flying motorcycle’ that can travel up to 300 km / h, have completed flight testing of their first prototype and are ready to pre-order.
Jetpack Aviation envisions Speeder – a jet-powered, vertical take-off and landing craft (VTOL) – as both a recreational craft and a mission car well-suited for medical teams and fire and rescue operations.
The company’s P1 prototype has an aluminum frame and was tied during a recent flight test in Southern California, where it hit several references that ‘demonstrated the Speeder’s ability to take off, climb, soar, climb and make slow transitions to forward flight̵
Speeder can reach a height of up to 15,000 feet and will eventually be able to produce a maximum thrust of 1200 pounds.
With cargo on board, an automated Speeder could hit speeds of 300 km / h, although a manned version would be slower so that the pilot could safely see and breathe.
The cost of the Speeder was originally reported at $ 380,000 dollars, but it is likely to increase, according to Jetpack Aviation CEO David Mayman.

The accelerator is small enough to be transported in a trailer and does not need charging until it takes off.
And unlike a jetpack, not much prep work is needed to launch: ‘You just want to hop on and fly,’ ‘New Atlas reported.
JA is already working on its next iteration, P1.5, which will use a smaller frame with carbon fiber body panels.
It will take a closer look at the final production model and will fly without a belt.
Like Jetpack Aviation’s JB-10 and JB-11 jetpacks, the ‘flying motorcycle’ is powered by mini-turbojet engines. But it will move faster, support up to two passengers and carry heavier loads
The next experimental model, the P2, will have a full-bodied body and small detachable wings.
While Speeder prototypes use four engines, the final production model will have up to eight.
JetPack Aviation has received support from venture capitalist Tim Draper, an early investor in Elon Musk’s Tesla and SpaceX, CNBC reported.
Right now, Speeder can be powered by aviation fuel, diesel or kerosene, but Mayman is committed to using zero-grid carbon fuel going forward.
The company has already gained attention with its JB-10 and JB-11 jetpack, among the only ones on earth powered by min-turbojet engines.
Speeder operates on a similar principle, but will move faster, carry heavier loads and support up to two passengers.
While Speeder will be available for commercial sale, CEO David Mayman sees that it has a lot of potential with the military, medical teams and fire and rescue operations.
According to New Atlas, it will also be electronically self-stabilized, with power-operated nozzles that can quickly emphasize the thrust from each beam in 360 degrees to make lightning-fast balance corrections and perform maneuvers. ‘
The attachment used in experiments does not keep the vehicle up, Mayman insists, it only ensures that it does not suddenly fall or fly off course.
Right now we have confirmed that it can take off, climb, swing. It can stay in a stable hovercraft using LiDAR. Nice and accurate, ‘he told NS. “ It’s drifting a little at the moment, maybe a foot over five minutes, but you can give it a decent push with a rod, and it will falter and come back to where it was. ”
Mayman says his goal is to make Speeder modular, with different types of frames and propulsion layouts to serve the different customers. Pictured: An eight-engine ‘go-kart’ configuration for the Speeder

‘We have potential end users in the US Marine Corps who want to be able to fly, for example 300 miles. To do that, you need a large wingspan of 15-17 feet, ‘he said.
Sometimes you just want to fly the chassis, so it has to be modular and adaptable in the field. For really long-distance work, it is possible to use a wet wing with a bladder full of extra fuel in it. ‘
