The PS4 version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake looks set to hit PS Plus next March, at least in Japan – but it will not upgrade freely to the new PS5 version. As pointed out by Twitter user aibo, the Japanese PS Store list for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade includes small print indicating that the original PS4 game will be added to PS Plus on March 1st. Roughly translated, this entry adds that “PlayStation 4 version ‘FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE’ obtained as a free game by subscribing to PlayStation Plus can not be upgraded to PlayStation 5 version.”
It is worth noting that Japanese PS Plus games may differ from those in other territories. We have contacted Sony for comment.Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade was announced at yesterday̵
7;s PlayStation State of Play event, offering free upgrades (with game transfer storage) to those who purchased Final Fantasy 7 Remake on PS4. It seems that the privilege will not be extended to those who claim a PS Plus version.
Intergrade is an expanded version of the FF7 Remake, with performance and graphics mode, improved textures, fog effects, lighting and faster loading times, as well as a new photo mode and support for the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback. Next to Intergrade, a bonus episode with Yuffie will be released, which can only be played for owners of the PS5 version of the game.
