Yes, you read that right. Fiat has released three actual 500 Series cars with “Hey Google” branding and integration directly with Google Assistant.
The partnership was confirmed in an official blog post from Google and Fiat, respectively, with some adjustments outlining how these 500 Series Hey Google cars differ from the regular fleet. A refreshment of the classic bubble car, the Fiat 500 has become an incredibly popular mini station wagon throughout large parts of Europe in recent years.
However, we never expected to see this Fiat 500 Family Hey Google, which is a special limited edition of the classic Fiat 500. So it̵
Well, unlike just about any other Fiat car, you can ask your Google Assistant for key information about your car with nice voice commands like “Hi Google, My Fiat asks what’s my fuel level?” and get feedback on current capacity. That’s not all, as you can even ask to turn on or off headlights, activate emergency lighting, plus control the in-car entertainment system.
Fiat has even added nice details to the car itself to differentiate it from a regular Fiat 500. There are “Hey Google” brands and Google’s colorful dot aesthetics over a Fiat 500, 500L or 500X model. Inside, the car cover also has nice details with the colorful dots on all passenger seats and “Hey Google” codes on each headrest.
Each of the three vehicles – Fiat 500, 500L and 500X – includes 7-inch touch screens with built-in Google Assistant. This can be connected directly to the Fiat Mopar Connect system which allows you to access and monitor all kinds of car statistics and data points from your phone, tablet or Smart Display. You can check where you parked your car, how many miles you drove that day, and – my personal favorite – if your car is locked / unlocked.
The new Fiat 500 Family Hey Google will soon be available in three models – 500, 500X and 500L – in ten European countries, including Italy, the UK, France, Spain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands and Poland.
In addition, if you buy one of the Fiat 500 Hey Google cars in a limited edition, you get a candy bag that comes with a Fiat-branded Nest Hub (1st generation), key cover and a canvas bag with a limited edition. It’s the kind of swag you’re just expecting from such a partnership. Now we’re just trying to find a way to get this into review …
