Ubisoft recently held an AMA to discuss all things Far Cry 6, revealing that the upcoming open-air shooter game is fully playable in online co-op.
In response to a Reddit user, game director Alexandre Letendre confirmed that Far Cry 6 will have an online collaboration mode similar to Far Cry 5, where players can invite their friends to wreak havoc on the game world.
“Yes Far Cry 6 will be able to be played fully in co-op live FC5,” said Letendre. “Tell your friends, there’s a lot of Far Cry fun.”
In Far Cry 5, players can access the game’s multiplayer features after leaving the island of Holland. Once this requirement is met, players simply need to open the game menu, select Online, tap Invite friends and then select from the friends list. Once the other player has accepted the request, cooperation is initiated and players can enjoy the chaos that Far Cry’s world gifts present together.
It is unclear whether Far Cry 6’s online multiplayer will be as easily accessible. Furthermore, there is no confirmation as to whether online co-op will support platform games. We have contacted Ubisoft and will update this post if we hear back.
Far Cry 6 has recently made headlines due to confusion over the game’s policies. Narrative Director Navid Khavari shared a statement that clarified Far Cry 6’s inspirations and said that a story of revolution “must be” political. Khavari also said that the choice of gender for the main character was “important” for Ubisoft, and further emphasized how political the game’s story can be.
This comes on the heels of a May 28 revelation that showed various aspects of Far Cry 6, including the many weird weapons players can acquire and the all-animal cast that make up the “Amigo” companions.
Far Cry 6 launches October 7 for Luna, PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S.
