Expect many more exclusive Epic Stores through at least 2022
The Epic Games Store secures even more exclusions over the next two years, and later this week it streams a Spring Showcase event featuring game announcements (and hosting a similar sale).
The first bit is crucial and lays the foundation for Epic’s ongoing strategy. In a statement to PC Gamer, a representative said the store has “more exclusives over the next two years than we have published to date.”
The list contains titles we know of, such as this year Darkest Dungeon 2, and probably many that we do not. This is also the case with genDesign, PlayDead and Remedy̵
Later this week we will see “a curated collection of new announcements, games and expanded looks presented by the developers who make the games we all love” in a live-streamed event. Epic Games Store Spring Showcase airs on Twitch at 11.00 in the Pacific Thursday 11 February.
At this point, no one is telling what Epic may have up its sleeve – established IPs, fresh indies and everything in between. As long as these offers are offered and the terms are appealing, we will see much more promising games related to the Epic Store for at least a year after launch.
It really feels like this attack plan can continue uninterrupted for a long time, long time.
