Beautiful RPG Edge Of Eternity has struggled through early access for over two years now, and the mission has almost come to an end. After two years of releasing several chapters of the story and other game updates, Midgar Studio has announced that Edge Of Eternity will launch in its entirety on June 8 with its last two chapters to uncover the game for real.
In the traditional RPG way, the world has a catastrophe that your heroes are responsible for defeating. “Heryon’s world is torn apart,” says Midgar Studio. “Many years ago, the arrival of a mysterious alien force finally plunged the planet into an endless catastrophic war in which both magic and technology were liberated to the worst and darkest extremes. Now an even greater threat has emerged: in a despicable act of war, invaders released Corrosion, a deadly disease that turns living forms of all kinds into malformed abominations. ”
Midgar says that these last two chapters should give another five to ten hours of playing time to the game to complete the game final with the heroes Daryon and Selene. In the new trailer right here, you can watch Eternity’s turn-based combat system, the technological-encounter-magic world, and — oh yes, a giant cat assembly.
I want to be real. I’ve played a good deal of fantasy RPGs with main characters who have pop star hair and glowing swords. It looks like an attractive game, but what caught my eye was the giant cat creature up there. The Edge Of Eternity states that it has five human companions to unlock and a furry friend, “a fearless but sweet animal.” Look at the feathery, airy ears. There’s some good RPG juice, there.
One of the more interesting pieces of Edge Of Eternity is that the developers have released a modding toolkit. It does not seem that many mods have been made so far, but maybe that will change with full release. Oh, but look, someone’s gone and made a Final Fantasy sword on Nexus Mods. Should have seen it coming.
In its announcement, Midgar Studio also mentions that this will be the last chance to approach Edge Of Eternity for a 33% discount before the price increases on 14 April. You can find it on Steam where it is priced at £ 13.39 / $ 16.74 until then. The game’s full launch is scheduled for June 8.
