EA's response to Steam is Origin, but EA goes a step further than Steam by offering one, and soon two, subscription options along the page that sell you digital games. The second of these subscriptions was announced in June on E3, and yesterday it was confirmed that Origin Access Premier is set to launch next week.
The existing Origin Access subscription costs $ 4.99 a month or $ 29 a year. In return for your money, you get access to 75 EA games with the service that is slowly opened to also offer non-EA titles. It's a great deal, but the games do not include new titles. Origin Access Premier will, but it costs a lot more.
As Variety Reports, Origin Access Premier costs $ 14.99 a month or $ 99 a year. For that, you get a 10 percent discount on Origin purchases, but this is not the main reason to rate a subscription.
EA offers early access to new games for members, which means Madden 19, FIFA 19, Battlefield V, and Anthem will all be playable on Premier five days before launch. Over 100 older games from EA and other publishers will also be available to play as long as you maintain your subscription, with access being "full unlimited access" indicating that all DLC is included.

Although the Origin site has not been updated yet, confirms the launch next week, you can not get much better from a source than EA's finance director Blake Jorgenses to confirm that it's happening. He stated that it is during a earnings call on Thursday, so the only details to confirm is which day specifically. Wednesday, August 1, maybe?
EA's approach to Origin appears to reflect what Microsoft does for its consoles with Xbox Game Pass. For PC games, Steam is far from the biggest player, so EA needed to offer something different than trying to compete directly. Subscription is certainly something different and you have to wonder if Valve will decide that it must compete and introduce its own in one way or another.
