When iPhone X was released last year, it launched a new look and feel for Apple's headphones. The company got rid of the home button, and used .
It appears that "some" of the new screens Apple offered in iPhone X, had an erroneous part that, when failed, caused the display to be intermittent or completely without responding to the contact. In a message posted on the company's website about the wrong part Friday, Apple also said that the screen might even respond when you do not touch it too.
If you have experienced any of this, Apple encourages you to locate an authorized service provider, set up an appointment in an Apple Store, or contact the company's technical support team to review the phone. Apple says that if an iPhone X meets the requirements of the repair program, it replaces that display for free.
Apple usually provides an easy way to identify if you have the error, for example, with a number of serial numbers, but it did not work this time. The company also offers no more detailed information about how many iPhones it believes may have been affected, although it said that no other iPhone models are part of the announced repair program. The company did not respond immediately to a request for comment Friday evening.
This is not the first time Apple has offered a repair program for its iPhones. In September, the company said that a ""of iPhone 8 devices had the wrong logic board that led them to unexpectedly restart, freeze the screen or not turn on at all. And in February, the company said that a " " of the iPhone 7 devices contained an erroneous part that would cause the phone to tell people that there was no cell service when it actually was.
The company said separately that it would also offer "limited number" of its entry levelsmodels that were sold between June 2017 and June 2018, as the company said may have error file known as SSDs.
In this case, Apple said people could write the computer serial number in a form on the website to see if they could be eligible. If so, the company encourages users to get their computers serviced, as the bad part could fail, resulting in data loss.
