The sequel to DJI's flagship Mavic drone has been a bit of an open secret recently, but it appears that an early release of an advert has revealed the last remaining details. The latest problem with the British catalog Argos has played the prayers of almost anything but pricing, and drone fans have been quick to share the ad online. The biggest surprise is that Mavic 2 comes in two different models, Pro and Zoom.
Interestingly, DJI designed the two Mavic 2 models to have their own strengths and meet specific needs, instead of creating a single drone trying to do everything. Mavic 2 Zoom is intended to include a 2x optical zoom lens (24mm – 48mm) while Mavic 2 Pro has a Hasselblad camera with a 1
Both models are said to be capable of 31 minutes flight time and peak speed of almost 45mph, along with the ability to transfer live 1080p video to distances up to 5 miles. They each have 360 degree collision awareness, but there is no mention of the reputable removable gimbal feature, or what the maximum video recording quality is.
The biggest missing details are of course the pricing. The existing Mavic Pro drone is priced at around $ 1100, but there are some guess if these two new models are to be sold next to it or replace it. DJI was originally supposed to hold a launch event earlier this month, but it was suddenly delayed without updating since then. The appearance of Mavic 2 in the directory may mean that drone debut is close or that it should come immediately after the canceled launch event but was not pulled in time.
