An unboxing video of the DJI FPV drone has made rounds over the internet in the last day or so, and shows us pretty much everything. Let’s take a look at the video and discuss it before taking it down again.
The video first appeared on the Dominion Drones channel before being removed shortly after. A few managed to download the video and re-upload it on YouTube, giving us a look at the video again.
If the video is removed from YouTube again, we will review the video thoroughly for those who read it without the video. This will only mention the things we have not seen or noticed before. So there may be a few things we do not notice.
The packaging stays in line with the rest of DJI̵
DJI FPV drone
The drone side has the word FPV written with the standard DJI logo on the back. The two smaller cameras on the front match two cameras on the bottom, which means they will be used to avoid obstacles and likely ActiveTrack, instead of FPV cameras. The underside of the drone also has two infrared sensors and an LED light to help with landing in low light.
Then we look at the new goggles. It seems to have a joystick, a record button and another button at the top right, with foam that apparently feels much better than the V1. There are also two buttons on the left side and a MicroSD card slot and USB-C charging port. The video also says that the goggles are much lighter, which is great to hear. There are also two adjustment sliders at the bottom of the goggles.
If we look at the controller, we can now see that it is packed with buttons on the top. It seems to have the slider for standard gimbal adjustment and recording / photo button. There is also a start / stop button, a three-way switch with arrows on it, a flight pause / return-home button and a flight mode three-way switch.
Then we look at the wooden blade propellers, two sets of them. The charger for the drone’s batteries, goggles and controls. It also seems to come with a small power bank to extend battery life in the field. The final box has the protective antennas and headband, and a replacement roof in a light green color. This means that DJI FPV drones in a race can easily be tracked by pilots and spectators. The usual cables and papers are also in this box.
And that’s where the video ends. Watch the video below while you still can.
