Blizzard Entertainment is giving up again for the return of Diablo III Darker by the Tristram event, the annual celebration that throws players back to Diablo’s old days. Players will be able to repeat the steps back to “the earliest days of Diablo,” according to Blizzard, while also earning some new prey along the way. The darkening of the Tristram 2020 event is planned to start only on 31 December with several stages of the event taking place in the days that follow.
Over on Blizzard’s website for the latest mainline Diablo game, Blizzard outlined plans Diablo III Darker by the Tristram event. It begins on December 31 at 4pm PST when players meet a group of troubled cultists in the Sanctuary before a portal opens on January 3 that allows players to dive deeper into the event. “Your journey begins on the trail of a group of mysterious cultists who are causing trouble in the Sanctuary,” Blizzard said of the upcoming Diablo III event. “When you hunt them in adventure mode, you will uncover clues that lead to a portal into Tristram’s past, and the frightening darkness that gripped the city so many years ago …”
Players can take the portal that opens in a few days to return to a cathedral that was present in the original Diablo game. A slaughter animal, banners, transmogrification effects and several rewards await inside the cathedral for those who are able to find them.
“While some rewards are easy to find, others can make you scrub every nook and cranny or unlock all achievements before you can get them,” teased Blizzard. “Can you serve them all? There’s just one way to find out! ”
Diablo III The Darkening of Tristram event is scheduled to begin on December 31 and will be in full swing by January 3.
