Diablo 2: Resurrected runs a single-player “technical alpha” this weekend. From and including Friday 9. April at 3pm BST (7am PST) The remake of the action-RPG classic will be available to a limited selection of registered players, and will include three classes and the first two actions of the game.
The three classes available to play are Amazon, Barbarian and Sorceress, and there will be no level cap to stop you from painting over the first two actions to upgrade your characters. The alphabet ends on Monday 1
Diablo 2: Resurrected upgrades the original game with new 3D art and the ability to run in 4K resolutions, but the technical alpha is also designed to gather feedback on Blizzard’s adjustments to the original systems. “We look forward to hearing all feedback from players as we test how Diablo 2’s timeless game fits with some of the improvements we’re working on, such as automatic gold retrieval, shared stash and controller support,” they say.
You can find more information about what alpha contains in this blog post. If you want to get involved, you can sign up for the technical alpha on the official Diablo 2: Resurrected website. It requires a Battle.net account, and only a few users are selected.
I’ve never played the original Diablo 2, but I’m excited to try it out this time because Alice B maintains that it’s the best game in the series. Also because I’ve not played an action RPG in a while, and this feels like a better re-entry point than trying to understand Path Of Exile.
