Bungie has unveiled a set of four new weapons that will be available next season of Destiny 2 for players willing to take on the challenge of the Iron Banner competition event. Slate with weapons includes a handgun, a sniper rifle, a machine gun and a shotgun. The former two are weapons that were previously released in Iron Banner in Destiny 2’s first year, while the latter two are brand new.
The new weapons were shown in a blog post this week on Bungie, but the developer did not give much in the way of details. It did not even tell us which weapons are coming back, but the two return weapons are not that difficult to identify. They are the 1
We have not seen these two guns in rotation for a long time, and as we have seen with other old Iron Banner weapons that get updates too late, it is very likely that these two will have a whole new pool of benefits when they pop up. up in season 14. Especially Finite Impactor seems like it could shine in the crucible with some benefits. In any case, random rolls should bring the weapons on par with Destiny 2’s other current weapons. We need to see what Bungie brings to the new shotgun and machine gun, and whether they find a way to shine in either PvP or PvE.
In addition to new weapons, Bungie indicated that it is working on a new Iron Banner-themed armor. For a while now, Bungie has been releasing older versions of Iron Banner armor, making the older look available with the new Armor 2.0 mod system. Even if you can only earn that armor during given a week-long Iron Banner event, it’s been a bit disappointing to get new versions of old stuff, especially since Bungie will soon be rolling out its armor transformation system, which allows you to make any piece of armor look like another piece.
Bungie says that the new armor designs are on their way, but do not expect them in season 14. “These sets will not appear in any seasons, but we have heard the desire for some new excavations,” it says in the blog post. We do not know exactly when they will be released, but Bungie says it will share more information in the future when it becomes available. The blog post also detailed some changes in weapons coming next season, which will break down a few gun types and weapon advantages that have been dominant in the crucible.
Meanwhile, the last Iron Banner event in season 13 starts on April 13 and goes to the weekly reset on April 20. Destiny 2’s season 14 is scheduled to start on May 11.
