BERLIN-Google's expensive, elegant Pixelbook makes the statement that Chromebooks are useful for adults, not just primary school students and college children. Dell buys that argument with the new Inspiron Chromebook 14 2-in-1.
Dell presented its first premium Chromebook at the IFA Tech Trade Show this Wednesday. Inspiron Chromebook 14 2-in-1 sports features like an aluminum frame, a 360-degree display hanger and a built-in stylus you would normally expect to find on premium Windows Ultraportables. Perhaps best of all, the Inspiron Chromebook 14 2-in-1 is priced at $ 599, far less expensive than Pixelbook .
Dell's premium Chromebook will be sold on October 23. Inside, you'll find an eighth-generation Intel Core i3 processor instead of the less powerful Pentium and Celeron processors that usually run under $ 500 Chromebooks. It's a 1
The supplied active digital pen uses electromagnetic resonance technology (EMR) to enable more precise handwriting than you can expect of a capacitive pen. Best of all, it glides into a "garage" port on the Chromebook base, so you do not lose it.
Perhaps the only downside is the Inspiron Chromebook 14 2-in-1 weight. At four pounds, it is noticeably heavier than many premium 13-inch ultraportables and convertible laptops, which tend to weigh three pounds or less.
Dell also took back its line of Vostro laptops at IFA. The surprising revival marks the first time Dell laptops have been sold under the Vostro name for many years.
Vostro 15 5000 (5581) will be sold in November for a starting price of $ 579. It's aimed at small and medium sized businesses, so it includes some, but not all the security and IT friendly features you can expect from a business-capable computer, such as Trusted Platform Module (TPM) encryption.
A smaller 14-inch sister, Vostro 14,000,000 (5581) will follow in January for $ 669.
Finally, Dell also updates its venerable portable XPS and Inspiron laptop configurations. The XPS update is smaller, equivalent to an updated XP3 13 2-in-1 with new 8th generation Intel Core processors, and an XPS 13 with a new, cheaper Core i3 CPU solution.
Inspiron 2-in-1 convertible lineup, meanwhile, gets a total makeover; We get a preview of the Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1 card.
