Device adaptation company Dbrand has announced that it will soon launch custom PlayStation 5 front discs, and has challenged Sony to threaten it with lawsuits.
Prior to the launch of the PS5, a UK company decided to market custom front panels for the console, only to end up receiving a legal threat from Sony. As a result, the manufacturer of the faceplate had to stop operations before returning to the site via a crowdfunding effort.
Asked by a Reddit user if he was worried about Sony’s response, Dbrand simply said, “We encourage them to give it a try.”
Dbrand’s official announcement, which includes a shot at Cyberpunk 2077, provides a fun read, so we leave it here for our readers:

As the title of this post suggests, we are now world leaders in PS5 Faceplates.
Sue us, Sony.
This project has been in the works since just before we asked you not to buy PlayStation 5 skins. Spoiler alert: this is why we asked you not to buy PlayStation 5 skins.
After moving a few more chess pieces through four dimensions, we added a new production line to our plastic injection plant and got started. The skills we have improved over the last few years in developing the Grip Case have positioned our organization in a unique way to make OEM-quality faceplates: those with all the precision, attention to detail and unnecessarily elaborate packaging that you have come to expect from dbrand.
We will have mass production on PS5 Faceplates by the end of the year. However, we do not accept orders until we have stock at our Toronto headquarters, ready to ship. If CD Project RED has taught us anything, it̵7;s a bad idea to sell products before they are finished.
If you’re among the millions of people who did not get the PS5 for Christmas, be calm when you see these sold out. We expect demand to exceed supply at launch, but rest assured that Faceplates will be a regular part of our portfolio.
On the other hand, if you are among the millions of scalps hoping to differentiate between their overpriced PS5 with a custom faceplate, we encourage you to sign up for the launch announcement here.
That’s it from us. Congratulations on surviving 2020. We will try harder in 2021.
