Google's design language in recent months has largely focused on white elements, and many users are not so happy about it. Now Google sees to bring an official dark mode to the dialer app.
The best gifts for Android users
The dialer app installed on Pixel devices, including phones, is simply called "Google Phone." Recently, Google updated changelog for the latest version of the Google Phone app on the Play Store to mention a dark mode soon.
The phone app has a new, new look. And coming soon – Dark mode
First discovered by a Droid-Life reader, this is the first mention we've seen anywhere Google does this. Not long ago, Google gave this app a complete makeover with Material Theme, which has just gone from the beta as well. Interestingly, this closely follows Google's Android Messages app, which also just downloaded a material theme transfer with a dark mode in tow.
While it's incredibly exciting that this comes to the Google Phone app, we also have no idea when it's coming. Google's definition of "soon" can be a bit loose. When this comes, however, you can expect Google Pixel range, Android One devices, and some OEMs from Essential and more.
