CD Project Red has finally revealed the first gameplay recording of Cyberpunk 2077. After cryptic broadcasting of code lines was printed on a screen for several hours as part of a recent Twitch live stream, the developer shared an almost hours gameplay demo of it coming world-wide sci-fi RPG, and it was absolutely impressive.
The movie that was shown under the stream was taken from the same gameplay demo CD Project Red, shown to tap E3 and Gamescom 2018. The demo begins with V, your custom protagonist, traveling to a gangster with her allied Jackie to find a missed cyborg. That mission quickly escalates into a firefight with gang members, and shows Cyberpunk 2077's RPG-rotated take on gunplay. Later in the demonstration, V is given an attempt to acquire a drone who takes her and Jackie into the Maelstrom band. Perhaps most impressive, the recordings also give a closer look at Night City, the scattered and richly detailed futuristic metropolis that acts as the game's setting.
"What we release today was recorded from a game that is deeply developed," game director Adam Badowski said in a message that accompanies the release. "Since many of the assets and mechanics of the current version of Cyberpunk 2077 are most likely to be modified, we decided to show this game only to the media. Items like gunplay (both in terms of visual effects and how RPG statistics affect it) netrunning, car physics or game user interface ̵
"However, we are also well aware that many of you will see what the media saw. Although this is not the same game you see on the screen when we start, we still decided to share this 48-minute video with you. This is what Cyberpunk 2077 looks like today. Let us know what you think! "
Although announced several years ago, Cyberpunk 2077 was not formally unveiled to E3 2018 during June, when CD Project Red shared the first film film of the game during Microsoft's E3 press conference. The developer also showed almost an hour gameplay recording under a back-door demo of the convention, which was so impressive in its reach and detail that it strengthened Cyberpunk as one of our four favorite games from the show. "The E3 2018 demo for Cyberpunk 2077 was overwhelming with all detail , but it gave us the impression that there was a big world with all sorts of systems to explore and mess with, "wrote GameSpots Alessandro Fillari in response to the demo." The setting and some game suggestions are surely a big departure for CD Project Red, but that also has a number of cool and visually stunning details that show an amazingly rich world to jump first into. "
CD Pr ojekt Red would give fans a new glimpse of Cyberpunk 2077 at Gamescom last week. The convention released a handful of new screenshots that showed some characters and environments from the game. The studio also shared several pieces of concept art from Cyberpunk 2077 which contained a hidden link to another image that shows the phrase "more than meets the eye."
Cyberpunk 2077 is in development for PS4, Xbox One and PC. CD Project Red has not announced a release date yet, but the developer says the game is already playable from start to finish – although it still does not have all its assets, nor have all bugs been addressed yet.
We got a chance to talk to Cyberpunk 2077 producer Richard Borzymowski at Gamescom. During our interview, Borzymowski discussed how the studio was able to switch gears from the fantasy function of its second remarkable video game franchise, The Witcher, to the sci-fi world of Cyberpunk. He also talked more about the move from the third-person perspective from his previous RPGs to Cyberpunks first person's point of view.
