CTL launches a monster Chromebox with 64 GB of RAM and 2 TB of storage

I’ve spilled quite a bit of digital ink that has prompted the case of Chromeboxes, and still think that the little mini-PC form factor has a lot more potential than it is given credit for. Whether you need a budget-friendly desktop for your home office or use a fleet of powerful devices for teams of developers, Chromeboxes are versatile and easily customized to meet the needs of a variety of applications. I’ve covered how you can easily upgrade some of the Chromeboxes out there on the market, and I definitely recommend going this route if you are a tinker who likes to save some money here and there.

That said, CTL has just taken things to a whole new level with a specified Chrome OS mini-PC that we’ve never seen before. For business users, college labs or anyone who simply needs all the raw power you can get, I introduce to you CTL’s latest iteration of Chromebox CBx2. This thing is going to rock a 10th generation Intel Core i7, just like the standard model, but CTL has wrapped up a whopping 64GB of RAM to ensure you have zero issues with Chrome or other apps draining your resources. This processor along with the insane amount of RAM is a battle made in heaven for anyone who wants to take full advantage of the Linux environment available on Chrome OS.

If there was not enough of an upgrade, this Chromebox also comes with a massive 2 TB of storage which is a first time for any major Chromebox manufacturer. While it’s quite possible to get your own Chromebox and upgrade the drive yourself, CTL has done the job for you, and honestly the price tag is not that bad when you consider what you get. This Chromebox sells for $ 1,419, which may sound a little expensive, but consider this. The Acer Chromebox CXi4 with a Core i7, 16 GB RAM and a 256 GB drive sells for $ 930. CTL quadruples RAM and gives you 8 times the storage space for just under $ 500 more. 16GB of decent RAM from Crucial will give you $ 80 or more, while a 2TB SSD will cost you around $ 300, and that’s on the low end. While this may be one of the most expensive Chromeboxes out there, it offers one of the best value for the price. If you’re looking for a powerful Chrome OS desktop for your business or personal use, this is as good as it gets. Check out the new CTL Chromebox CBx2 at the link below.
