If you want a good game that will surely last you for a while, you might want to go to the Xbox store. One of the best Xbox 360 games ever made (which is also backward compatible on Xbox One) is currently available for the low cost of free: Crackdown.
If you have never heard of Crackdown, which is an achievement in itself, here's all you need to know about the game: it's an open world sandbox where you play the role of a genetically engineered super police officer. You are keen to patrol Pacific City, track down the different gangs and their leaders, and execute them with extreme prejudices and explosions. That's it. Now you are crazy.
The Crackdown heritage has been much longer than anyone could have expected, thanks to its simple premise (leading to one of the biggest game history plots), hectic game, sandbox world and concrete progression system. This is no more apparent than the hype about the upcoming Crackdown 3, as well as the genius marketing game to make live meme Terry Crews in the face of the game.
Now Crackdown has been released for free lately, but only as part of the Games with Gold campaign. I even bought a subscription so I could get my hands on the game (and Fable 3), but today marks the first time Crackdown was given away to everyone, regardless of their Xbox Live Gold subscription. And the game is not only free on Xbox One. If you managed to hold onto Xbox 360, you can also download it for free.
You're probably wondering why Crackdown is free for everyone and we are. Our best guess is that it's supposed to hype X01
We have no idea Crackdown is now available forever or for a limited period, so you should get your copy whenever you can.
