Collaboration with musicians is not uncommon in the video game industry (we still shake when we are reminded of such as Kris Kross: Make my video and the Aerosmith tongue Revolution X) and it seems that we almost had a similar team between Nintendo and good ol ‘Yeezy himself.
Former Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has explained that Kanye West visited Nintendo’s trade show during an E3 show a few years ago and spent some time talking to the only Shigeru Miyamoto. After this mental encounter, West Reggie later invited to a meeting in the office of his fashion company, with his wife Kim Kardashian who was also present – and put the former Nintendo president in a rather tight spot:
Part of it was about what he was doing. He experimented with a piece of video game content; he wanted reactions to it. He comes out and says, ̵6;I want to work with Nintendo.’ We had so many different projects on Nintendo going on, the opportunity to do something with Kanye was just not there, and therefore I had to find a way to politely reject this opportunity to work with him. I said to him, ‘Kanye, you do not want to work with us because we are tough, we are tough. All we do is push for the very best content. We would not be the type of partner you want to work with. ‘And he looks at me and says,’ Reggie, you’re just the kind of partner I want for that reason! ‘ It’s like, ‘Oh you good.’
Kanye has such a passion for the video game industry, and he is a creator.
