Chevrolet presents two special edition 2019 Colorado models

Two special edition models will soon join the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado Medium Truck Position: Colorado RST and the Colorado Z71 Trail Runner.

Chevrolet will offer 2019 Colorado RST, which stands for the "Rally Sport Truck", with a handful of exterior upgrades, but no performance-oriented changes. Colorado RST is based on LT trim, with exclusive exterior features like a Chevrolet lettered front grille design, black body side lists, and various black badging on the tailgate, such as RST, Colorado and Chevrolet Bowtie logos. RST will also be the first Colorado to come with 20-inch wheels, which will have a weak black finish.

While the Chevrolet says the Colorado RST is "street-focused", the 201

9 Colorado Z71 Trail Runner is definitely aimed at off-road use. The Z71 Trail Runner adds protection against the underbody from ZR2 trimmer, like anti-tip and aluminum disc, while also including a set of meaty Goodyear Duratrac tires and the fitted front grille. Of course, the Z71 Trail Runner includes all of the common Z71 features, such as the auto-locking rear differential, 4.10 axle ratio, ground frequency control, front road rebuilding and off-road orientation. Standard power plants for both special edition models are a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder with 200 hp and 191 lb.-ft. of torque, suitable for a 6-speed automatic transmission for 2WD models and an 8-speed automatic for 4WD models.

A Chevrolet spokesman noted, however, that the vast majority of these special edition models would take advantage of the optional 3.6-liter V6 that makes 308 hp and 275 lb.-ft. with torque while the 2.8-liter 4-cylinder Duramax diesel engine with 186 hp and 369 lb.-ft. Torque is also available as an option for both. Regardless of the driven wheels, the V6 pairs with an 8-speed automatic transmission and diesel engine pairs with a 6-speed automatic. The spokesman also claims that the Duramax engine is more likely to be found in the Z71 Trail Runner than RST, and notes that it is a popular engine for off-roading purposes.

Although pricing and a specific release date are not complete yet, you can expect to see both the Colorado RST and the Colorado Z71 Trail Runner at Chevrolet dealers early in 2019.
