Casio launches new G-Shock smartwatch powered by Wear OS

Casio unveiled its latest G-Shock smartwatch on Thursday.

000, part of the rugged G-Squad series, has an optical sensor for measuring heart rate, as well as an accelerometer, gyrometer, GPS and a sensor for measuring altitude and air pressure. In addition, it comes with a microphone and a charging terminal, and is powered by Google’s Wear OS.

“This powerful hardware profile allows the watch to capture distance, speed and pace data that is so useful to people who do physical exercise,” said the release, noting that the watch is preloaded with 15 activities and 24 indoor exercise options as well as the ability to pair with the G-Shock Move smartphone app.

Although Casio did not provide a release date, the UK G-Shock website shows the watch at £ 599 (about $ 830). The company did not immediately respond to a request for information on availability and prices in other markets.
