A couple of outdoor safety lights from Ring have leaked through two FCC files. The documents, first discovered by Dave Zatz, suggest that Ring is preparing to launch two new outdoor lights – the first not to include a security camera. One model, Ring Beam's Spotlight, is battery powered and has a single LED light. The second, Ring Beam's Wired Floodlight, is a larger, wired unit equipped with two lights.
Leakages come less than a week before CES 2019 will begin, where Ring is likely to announce new products. It has been almost a year since the Amazon-owned ring bought Mr Beams, a company that already produces some very similar lightweight security lights. Ring has previously built light into its security camera, but this would be the first time free standing lighting was produced.
There is no mention in the filing of the release date or the price of the new lights, nor do we know to what extent they will integrate with the rest of the Ring's lineup. The Ring Beam Wired Floodlight manual states that the built-in motion sensor can be replaced by a wired Spotlight Cam, but there is no mention of the doorbell integration that originally gave the company the name. But CES kicks off on Sunday, so we will probably not have longer time to wait to find out.
