The Call of Duty: Warzone Season Four Reloaded update has arrived, bringing with it the “greatest balance update in Warzone’s history.”
As described by Raven Software, these changes are the studio’s “first major step toward increasing the average Time-to-Kill within Warzone.”
“It is important to note that these weapon adjustments were not made in a vacuum,” Raven wrote. “When considering an individual change, some may seem quite drastic, but they were done holistically and in a way that supported an increase in average TTK in several weapon categories.
“Torso Multipliers were a significant focus for these changes, how often they would act as flat injuries increases given how consistently this placement can be affected. With reductions to these multipliers, we place greater emphasis on precision ̵
Raven went on to discuss how it will statistically always be a “best weapon”, as it is “the nature of a competitive game.” However, Raven promises that it will ensure that these best weapons do not remain so forever.
“Statistically, it will always be a ‘best weapon.’ That’s the character of a competitive game,” Raven said. Players will seek out and take advantage of all the benefits they can, no matter how small it may be. We will be careful to ensure that the “best weapon” never overrides the welcome and has efficiency that scales with the dealer’s skill.
“Conversely, there are also many players who prefer a myriad of choices to choose from. Our goal is to provide just that. We will continue to compress outliers, both over and under performing, until each weapon is at least viable. We do not want that players should feel that they have a clear disadvantage in not complying with the widely accepted “best weapon.”
The team will closely monitor weapons performance to ensure that the game is in a “healthy state” after these changes, which Raven has considered the largest in Warzone’s history.
In addition to these balance changes, Season Four Reloaded will also bring a number of bug fixes, a new Zombies map in Mauer Der Toten, a new multiplayer map in Rush (6v6), new weapons, multiplayer modes, a new operator, a new Warzone payload mode, and more.
