Bungie changes Celerity and Bottomless Grief in Destiny 2 season 14

Fate 2Bottomless grief and Celerity benefits will see a major overhaul next season, Bungie said on Thursday in his weekly blog post. The studio also revealed significant overhauls for two tower vendors, giving players separate locations to trade weapons or armor. Both the benefits and the supplier changes are shown in Fate 2 season 14, which starts on May 11 and will look back on the Vault of Glass raid and the addition of a Transmog system.

With the return of Trials of Osiris last year, Bungie added a new advantage that can only roll on Trials weapons: Celerity. Celerity is a unique advantage that drastically improves player stats if they are the only living member of Fireteam in PvP. The studio added a similar benefit to Strike-specific weapons earlier this year, the Bottomless Grief. Weapons with bottomless mourning will automatically load their magazine when players are killed. But like Celerity, Bottomless Grief only works when a player is the last living Fireteam member.

These benefits sound good, but rarely feel useful at the moment. As the head of the weapons function Chris Proctor noted: “Players never like to bet against themselves or their teams.” Without this failed state, the benefits do nothing, making them undesirable for most players.

But from next season, both benefits will see some improvement. Bottomless Grief will automatically give players +30 to Magazine Stat (which is a percentage increase in ammunition, based on the weapon type) in addition to their usual advantage. Celerity will offer players +20 to Stato Reload and Handling in addition to the “last player standing” base effect.

Even better, both benefits appear automatically on Adept Weapons – Bottomless Grief for Grand Master Weapons and Celerity for Trials Weapons. The benefits will appear as a separate node below the left advantage, giving players the opportunity to choose one of these new benefits or something like Outlaw that rolled in the other slot. It is not entirely clear whether these benefits will now be reserved for Adept weapons and the special slot machine, or whether they can still randomly roll on non-Adept versions (we tend to believe the latter).

Bungie noted that other game mode-specific benefits – what Bungie now calls “origin benefits” – worked well with the new benefits added via the Deep Stone Crypt raid. The studio said it plans to add more origin benefits in the future, though it looks like it will avoid “failure” benefits like the original Celerity and Bottomless Grief going forward. It is worth noting that players must acquire new Adept weapons if they want the guaranteed bottomless mourning or Celerity nodes.

Destiny 2 Transmog system

In addition to these changes in benefits, Bungie also revealed some vendor enhancements coming in season 14. The studio previously announced that Ada-1 will return to Tower to serve as a Transmog vendor – what Bungie says it will now call “Armor Synthesis,” or the process of making one armor look like another. But the new blog details another role for her: armor supplier.

Ada-1 will sell two random armor mods each day, giving new players a chance to diversify their arsenal of mods. Ada-1 will also sell an entire set of armor randomly drawn from the world’s loot pool (only armor falling from general activities or enemies, so no robbery armor). This weekly armor set works in the same way as Xur in that it changes weekly and has fixed statistics for all players for the given week.

With Ada-1 taking over weapons tasks, Banshee-44 – Gunsmith – will expand its range of weapons. Starting next season, Banshee-44 will randomly sell six different weapons a week (two Kinetic, two Energy and two Power). Each weapon comes with a static extra advantage, which gives players the chance to spread the word to friends if the Banshee-44 has a particularly good weapon for sale. This is a great new addition for players who do not seem to get a good roll for false promises or any other weapon in the general world’s fall pool.

Both Ada-1 and Banshee-44 will sell upgrade materials such as Ascendant Shards and Prisms. All of these changes will appear in the game on May 11, at the beginning of Fate 2is not yet named 14th season.
