Bose adds swipe volume controls to QuietComfort earbuds and sports earbuds

One of the few complaints I had in my review of Bose’s QuietComfort Earbuds was that they lacked volume controls on board. Well, a few weeks after they were sold, the company has now fixed it.

In the latest update of the Bose Music app today on iOS, there is a new volume control option in the settings. (Probably this will also come to the Android app immediately.) Once you have turned it on, you will be able to swipe up and down on the right earplug to adjust how loud the sound is. This feature is available for both QuietComfort earplugs and cheaper sports earplugs. This is something that was discovered in early user manuals for the earplugs, but was removed before they were sent. I̵

7;m glad Bose has moved quickly to add this functionality, as it makes the premium earplugs more rounded when it comes to controls. And for earplug owners, this means you do not have to mess with your phone (or Siri or Google Assistant) in the middle of a workout or run if you need to change the volume.

Bose has also added a (optional) Spotify shortcut to the 700 noise-canceling headphones. You can now set the headphones to launch Spotify on your mobile device with a touch and hold the right earcup. Other headphone manufacturers, including Samsung, have previously added similar shortcut shortcuts to the popular streaming service.
