Pandemic is a classic board game from the publisher Z-Man where players work together to stop the spread of violent viruses. World of Warcraft’s Wrath of the Lich King expansion is about stopping Lich King’s Scourge from raging across the Northrend continent. They are basically the same game already, so Blizzard and Z-Man combined the two more World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King – A Pandemic System Board Game, launching later this year.
It’s the same Pandemic the system as board players all over the world has enjoyed since 2008, just instead of fighting a threat that has hit the home a little too hard lately, players are playing together to search through the frozen continent of Northrend, and put an end to World of Warcraftare less amicable undead. They will interact with heroes and villains from the huge multiplayer game currently controversial banshee queen Sylvanas Windrunner, the loving Orc Jesus Thrall, and the very, very dead Varian Wrynn, former King of Stormwind.
To spray up the new game, currently available for pre-order on the Z-Man website for $ 60, Blizzard put together a lovely little trailer. When board game trailers go by, it’s pretty dramatic.
“Wrath of the Lich King is the first time we take Pandemic game system for beloved fictional environments like Azeroth. It literally opens up a whole new world of possibilities, “said Justin Kemppainen, director of brand management at Z-Man Games, in a press release. “There is no greater threat to Azeroth than Scourge. The game really illustrates that by mixing the exciting collaborative gameplay Pandemic fans know and love World of Warcraft. We are sure that new and existing players in both franchises will love it! ”
What the game really does, apart from catering to hardcore WoW fans, is giving board game players a slightly less traumatic way to play one of the most engaging systems of all time. You do not even have to use a mask, although you probably still should.
