Bentley Continental GT Speed sets a new level in Grand Touring Sportiness

Plenty of dedicated luxury details around the entire car, new advanced and refined technical features, all for one main purpose: the materialization of the most dynamic Bentley produced during the brand’s 101-year history. Beyond any doubt, the new Bentley Continental GT Speed is the pearl inside the shell of the Bentley series itself.

They are wonderfully conservative, the British! The new Bentley Continental GT Speed sticks to the house’s philosophy, although it aims for a higher level of performance. Refined and oversized technique – yes! Flamboyant neoclassical design – yes! Any light or downsizing features ̵
1; no! They are not at all interested in the saying “less is more” in Crewe. They prefer “more is more”, an expression that does not admit any kind of answer.

The only thing they cared about reducing is the value of the acceleration time 0 to 100 km / h, with only 3.6 seconds required in the case of this newly built Continental GT Speed. Among other things, it is a consequence of the upgrade process used on the well-known 6.0-liter W12 TSI engine, which now develops 659 hp and a torque of 900 Nm (664 lb-ft). Dual-clutch, eight-speed gearbox is twice as fast in Sport mode than in the standard Continental GT W12.

Still, we are talking about a luxury sports car that weighs about 5,000 kg. (2268 kg). Accelerate it, it’s one thing, keeping it stable on the road, it’s another thing. A complex. Still, there is a new electronic four-wheel steering that improves road holding to speed in Bentley and Comfort driving modes.

This is more noticeable in Sport mode, as the steering works in conjunction with the Bentley Dynamic Ride adaptive suspension and an electronic differential with limited glide for a level of agility unlike any other Bentley intended for sale.

In Bentley and Comfort modes, the total grip is balanced between the front and rear wheels, while the Sport mode is calibrated with a more rear-tension torque split. For the first time in a Bentley, the latest generation of Continental GT Speed introduces an electronic rear differential (eLSD).
