So Assassin’s Creed Odyssey was a kind of turning point for many people.

Many agree: it was a step up in many ways from the previous one Assassin’s Creed games, and the string of free updates that were added gradually only heightened this concept. Completely free transmogrification (also known as transmog, where you can change your appearance without sacrificing loot stats) was cherry on top. Natural, Valhalla screwed it up.

Transmog was added Valhalla last week, but as people have noticed, there comes a price. Literally a price of 50 Silver, the game̵

7;s currency in the game that can be bought with real money. But the low price is not so much a problem as the hassle of having to go back to the hub zone and talk to the Ravensthorpe blacksmith every time you want to change.

So there is currently a debate about whether the silver price was meant to feed into the microtransaction system, and it’s a bit up in the air. Finally, 50 silver is a nominal fee. The main problem is that it is only annoying when you combine it with another location-based requirement.

Why have these at all? Spring Valhalla Do you need some financially stressed gold rush like a live service game or MMO? I remember when Odyssey got transmog; it was a blessing! I constantly changed the way my character looked on the go and thought “I can not wait for this particular system to hit everyone Assassin’s Creed game.”

Little did I know Valhalla would get a worse impression of it months after launch. Like several other things in the follow-up to Odyssey, it feels like a step back.
