When Apple announced its independent repair vendor program for the United States in 2019, the company said it had plans to expand to other countries. Today it announced that the certification setup will grow even more. An earlier expansion reached Canada and Europe, adding 200 more countries to cover “almost all” places where Apple operates, and giving “repair vendors of all sizes access to original Apple parts, tools, repair manuals and diagnostics to provide safe and reliable repairs for Apple products. “
Apple promotes the program as a way for third-party stores to have the same resources as authorized service providers, and complete the joint of warranty repairs on iPhones and other devices. The program is free to join, but requires stores to guarantee that an Apple-certified technology will make some repairs. For stores that are part of the program, the certification exam is free and can be taken online.
