Apple later this month is expected to introduce two brand new iPad Pro models in 11-inch and 12.9-inch form factors. The official revelation is set to happen at a special media event that can come as soon as next week. Regarding what we can expect, we've seen the last few weeks of leaks associated with Apple's next-generation tablets, with the biggest change of course to eradicate the home button in favor of Face ID.
Apple's case event is still approaching, the number of iPad Pro leaks has only increased in recent days. Recently, Twitter user CoinCoin – who already has a few solid iPhone leaks to his / her credit – confirmed that Apple's new iPads do not have a traditional 3.5mm headphone jack. Besides, CoinCoin showed some interesting information about the iPad dimensions, and noted that it will measure at only 5.9 mm at its thickest point.
The current tweet can be seen below.
In particular, the figure adjusts 5.9mm near a leak Slashleaks as discovered a few days ago. The special leak claimed a thickness of 5.86 mm, but this number can not take into account the device's camera shock. Either way, Apple's new iPads are ready to be stunningly thin. As a comparison point, the current iPad has a thickness of 7.5 mm, while Apple's 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models are 6.1 mm and 6.9 mm thick respectively.
What's still unclear is about 5.9mm figure is in reference to both iPad models or, in a more likely scenario, the smaller model.
It is also worth noting that the legs on the forthcoming iPad Pro models will be quite thin, as shown below.
Over the last few years, it has not been denied that iPad sales are downward more often than not. With a new iPad look on the horizon, Apple may see a solid increase in sales over the coming holiday season.
