After launching Apple Watch a little over three years ago, Apple has refused to release certain sales figures for its popular laptop. Instead, Apple executives routinely make great demands on the device's growing popularity. As a representative example, Tim Cook told an earnings conference earlier this year that Apple Watch sales in the 2017 holiday season were breaking record. So while Apple continues to keep Apple Watch sales close to the chest, there is reason to believe that sales have only increased with each year running.
It is said that a new research report from Canalys claims that Apple Watch sales in the last June quarter checked into 3.5 million units. As a comparison point, 3.5 million unit figures represent a 30% increase compared to the same quarter a year ago. And while only Apple is aware of the specific sales figures, it's no secret that Apple Watch Series 3 ̵
Looking at the wider smartwatch market, Canalys left Apple's share of the market dropped from 43% to 34
"Apple is facing a growing threat from competitors, who have begun to pass the million quarterly shipping market, said Canalys Research Analyst Vincent Thielke in a press release. "Suppliers try to distinguish their products with advanced heart rate measurements, smart coaching and mapping, and consumers now have a much wider range of smartwatches to choose from than they did a year ago. "
That said, it is still reasonable to believe that Apple Watch sales are ready to increase in the coming months. According to rumblings from rumors, the next generation Apple Watch will include longer battery life and a new redesign that will incorporate a larger screen thanks to smaller fittings.
