Apple apparently has another OLED display provider.

Apple chose LG Display as its second source of organic light emitting diodes (OLED) used in future iPhone XS and XS Max .

Apple told the South Korean company thumbs up after the OLED panels had passed the iPhone manufacturer's quality tests, according to Reuters, as quoted in an article in South Korea-based Electronic Times that used an unidentified source.

The choice would make Apple less dependent on Samsung, the only source of monitors for iPhone X (like Apple no longer sells ) and its main rank in the smartphone market.

Neither Apple nor LG Display responded immediately to requests for comment.

In June, it was reported that LG could deliver 2 million to 4 million OLED monitors to Apple. This followed a previous report that LG was struggling to produce the displays and Apple was reviewed the partnership.

The iPhone XR, "Budget Model" unveiled by Apple on Wednesday, uses an LCD screen instead of OLED.
