If you did not already have a reason to get a PlayStation 5, Sony has sweetened the offer: Next year, every PS5 owner will be able to get a six-month trial of Apple TV Plus for free.
This promotion is exclusively available to PS5 owners – it can only be redeemed via the console’s dashboard – and requires a PlayStation Network account and an Apple ID. Note that the current Apple ID must have a payment method registered, since the Apple TV Plus subscription is automatically renewed after the trial period ends, at a regular monthly price of $ 4.99. The offer expires in one year, on July 22, 2022.
The agreement is not limited to new customers ̵
All in all, it’s a pretty smart move on Apple’s part. July 1 marked the end of the company’s strategy since September 2019 of offering a free year of Apple TV Plus to people who bought an Apple product. This means that millions of customers will be invoiced for the first time starting this month.
Despite boasting critical loved ones like Ted Lasso, Mythic Quest, For All Mankind, and Cartoon Saloon’s Oscar-nominated films WolfwalkersApple TV Plus shows significantly fewer exclusive shows and movies than competitors such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. The logic behind this campaign is pretty clear: Offer the service for as long as you can to have time to produce enough prestige content to attract new subscribers based on that appeal alone.
