Apple’s system status website indicates that the company has resolved a breach affecting the “iCloud account and login” services. Apple does not indicate how widespread this power outage was, but it does say that the problem had affected users for 36 hours.
A number of reports on Twitter suggested that some Apple users could not activate new devices, with most complaints apparently centered on the Apple Watch. The problem came especially when users everywhere started unpacking new Apple products on Christmas morning.
For Apple Watch users, one of the most common issues was a certification error that should appear when setting up a new device with Family Setup. Some users also reported similar issues with configuring new iPhones and HomePods.
Nevertheless, after 36 hours of problems, Apple says that they have solved these problems. The company simply states: “Users may have experienced a problem with this service”
