Black Friday and Cyber Monday may be over, but Apple hopes that some of you are still in the market for a new phone. For a limited period of time, as part of its GiveBack equipment wrapping program, Apple offers customers up to $ 100 in extra credit against a new iPhone XS or iPhone XR when shopping in an old iPhone.
Depending on what iPhone model you're shopping, you can range from $ 25 in extra credit (iPhone 8) or as much as $ 100 (iPhone 6 Plus / iPhone 6s / iPhone 6s Plus). When you decide to trade in an old device, you can either choose to receive an Apple Store gift card or a return on the purchase. And even if your device is up to be worth something, Apple will still take it away and recycle it for free.
Apple has not yet managed to clarify how long the additional credit promotion will last, so if you want to shop in an old phone (and you will do it through Apple), act soon. Here is a complete list of eligible devices:
- iPhone 6 : $ 1
- iPhone 6 Plus : $ 200 ($ 100)
- iPhone 6s : $ 200 $ ($ 100)
- iPhone 6 Plus : $ 250 ($ 150)
- iPhone 7 : $ 250 ($ 175)
- iPhone 7 Plus : $ 300 was $ 250)
- iPhone 8 : $ 300 ($ 275)
While you may find better prices elsewhere, you sell your phone back to Apple, it is by far the easiest way to dispose of it while making your next phone a few hundred dollars cheaper in process. To learn more about the purchase program, check out Apple's GiveBack landing page.
