Apple Introduces a $ 99 MagSafe Battery Pack for iPhone 12 – TechCrunch

The addition of MagSafe to the iPhone 12 line introduced all sorts of fun avenues for accessory makers, but it’s a strong case (so to speak) that a snap-on battery pack may be the most useful of all. A number of third parties (especially Anker and Mophie) have introduced their own versions, and now Apple is getting into the action.

The simply named MagSafe battery pack was pre-ordered on Apple’s website today for $ 99, with an estimated arrival on July 19th. The new package comes in white (with a subtle gray Apple logo on the back to tell people you went first -party) and provides up to 15W wireless charging, per party.

Other details are scarce at the moment, including exactly how many phone charges you get out of the package. Eye-catching viewers noticed the back of the device, with fine print and noted the 1

,460 mAh size. The package itself is charged via a lightning port, and users can connect it with the connected phone to get faster charging for both the package and the battery at the same time.

The price is a premium, compared to Anker and Mophie’s products, which run around $ 45-50 for a 5,000 mAh battery.
