But it’s Nomura, so it can never see the light of day
Do you want to see one Final Fantasy X-3? I mean, I think so. The “X” subseries is one of the better spin-offs Square Enix has made, and despite potential oversaturation, I would not mind checking in with that world again. Well, the chances are “not zero”, according to Tesuya Nomura.
Speaking of Famitsu (July 29 – August 5), as translated by RPG Site, Nomura notes that it is actually a X-3 synposis flowing from there from Kazushige Nojima, screenwriter for Square Enix. Nomura says it is “sleeping” at the moment, but “it exists.” As RPG Site points out, the sequel may use the “audio drama” format that the company has used in the past. Obviously, none of this will happen for that long Final Fantasy VII Remake is in production anyway: oh the next 10 years (I’m kidding, maybe not)?
Here’s the important thing to stick to here: this is being said by Tetsuya Nomura. The same Nomura who was involved in Fantasy Versus XIII saga. And Kingdom Hearts, a series that took almost 20 years to get a third main entrance.
While many people are likely to polish this, I do not actually underestimate Square Enix’s ability to infinitely nostalgia. I think if there is a demand one day, they can press the emergency button and finally make a full remake of Final Fantasy X, and potentially continue the story from there (and use this Final Fantasy X-3 outline in any number of scenarios). It may not even involve Nomura, and it may be years / decades away. But I think they are capable of it!
For now, we’re just wondering what Final Fantasy X-3 could cause.
