If you’ve ever wondered what Pathfinder’s life was like before the Apex Games, Respawn Entertainment now has an answer. The game’s latest Stories from the Outlands video, called Fight Night, is about the murderous and cheerful robot and gives us an idea of where he came from and what he has been up to between the creation and arrival of Apex Legends.
Despite most of Pathfinder, Fight Nights’ main character is an ex-policeman named Victor Maldera, who now works as a security guard and amateur detective. Victor was fraudulently discharged from the Malta Police Force after the final case was closed. The case was about a tragic fire against Humbert Labs. Malta police considered the fire an accident, but Victor believed it was caused by Alexander Nox.
When the case officer announced that Nox had been among the victims of the fire, Victor attacked him and was fired from the police force. Several years later, he worked as a security guard, and still looking for Nox, who he believes is alive. Of course sharp eyes Apex Legends fans will recognize Nox ̵
One night, just as Victor is giving up the search for Nox, he runs into Pathfinder who works as a waiter at a restaurant. After an accident involving a customer accidentally shooting himself, Victor grabs Pathfinder and tries to interrogate him, only to see a video file of Caustic escaping from the Humbert Labs fire, thus proving that he put it down and that Victor was right all along.
Also among these memory files we see small excerpts of important ones Apex Legends stories like Revenant murdered Loba’s parents. There is also a short clip by Pathfinder’s creator that explains that he was designed to discover new worlds like Outlands – which is a French scientist and may have something to do with Wattson.
It’s not worth ruining the action that follows, but in the end we’ll see what happened to Pathfinder and what seems to be the start of his journey towards the Apex Games.
This trailer is quite heavy on history and seems to connect Pathfinder to many of the other legends competing in the Apex Games. But it is not entirely clear whether we can expect this Stories from the Outlands short to be linked directly to any content or not. Maybe Victor, who seems to be an amateur boxer in his spare time, will get to the Apex Games? But even if he does not, Fight Night is still one of them Apex Legends best animated shorts ever.
