Daniel Klein, lead game designer at Respawn Entertainment, has suggested that a Loba buff may soon be coming to Apex Legends, but that High Society Thief is currently in a “pretty good” spot.
Added in season 5, Loba may have had less impact on the Apex Legends meta than any of her colleagues. She’s not necessarily understated, but it’s hard to really classify her as a game-changing legend in the Apex season 7 meta.
Buff to Black Market Boutique allowed her to become a significant contributor to her teams, pulling her out of the dwindling period she was in season 6.
However, her relative mediocrity compared to some of the game̵
One Redditor, ‘ApexFan12’, suggested a little Loba buff to Daniel Klein, Respawn’s Lead Game Designer. Klein can be found frequently active on Reddit, interacting and responding with fans of Battle Royale.
“You know how Pathfinder’s cooling is based on how far he goes,” said Redditor. “I was wondering if there is any way you can do the same with Loba, where her tactical cooling is based on how far her bracelet goes … There have been many times where I have accidentally thrown it right in front of me and have to wait for 30 seconds for it to charge. ”
The proposal seemed to appeal to Klein, who replied: “Definitely could! Could also just shave time in general. I think the animations before and after use can also do with a little tightening. The thing is, she’s pretty good right now. Let her rest for a note or two. ”
In response to another user saying just to make the bracelet travel faster in the air, Klein described the buff as a “last resort”.
“It will take some work on the visual effect to make it look good, and it has the highest risk of negatively affecting combat readability,” he said. “Points taken on the beautiful arrival animation; perhaps most of our acronym must be in taking off the animation. Like I said though, this is an experimental thing we’re still testing, and there’s a good chance we’ll not post it if it’s not healthy for the game. ”
Klein’s comment that they should “let her rest” suggests that the change, if it comes at all, will probably fall after the start of season 8. It’s good to wait and see how Loba is affected by the introduction of Fuse and the balancing adjustments that come with the launch of a new season.
With no delays, season 8 is set to drop in Apex Legends on February 2nd.
