Under Animal Crossing: New HorizonsOn New Year’s Eve, Nintendo Switch fans were treated to a surprising bit of dialogue right at the start of the game. It seems that everyone’s favorite villager Isabelle is a little disappointed to see that 2020 is coming to an end. While most people around the world are more than happy to see 2020 thrown in the trash, Isabelle sheds a few tears and notices how much the year has meant to her. In any other year, this exchange would probably not raise any eyebrows, but 2020 is a year unlike anything else, and most people are more than happy to see it go!
A picture of Isabelle’s tearful farewell to 2020 can be found below.
Of course, Isabelle can hardly be blamed for enjoying 2020! The character got a polished job working for Nook, Inc., where she gets to spend every day talking to residents about TV viewing habits, current events and more. New Year’s Eve is a particularly remarkable day for the character, as it gives her a rare work day to spend outside the Resident Services building; she did not even get it on her birthday, this year!
Players can see Isabelle with Tom Nook outside the building during the game’s New Year’s Eve. During the festivities, players also get the opportunity to catch a few free items in the form of a Light Stick and a Party Popper. Tom Nook never gives the opportunity to make any bells, and will thus also have party hats for sale. No matter what players wear, they can count down to the end of the year thanks to a giant clock in front of Resident Services. After the midnight line, fireworks will be held, and they will last until 02.00
For those who do not have the opportunity to attend a personal party this year, tonight’s event should be a fun way to celebrate the end of 2020 (although Isabelle is sad to see it go)!
