According to CNN’s latest report, the said technology was first revealed earlier in September 2020 by a California startup, Exosonic. The company said it is working with the United States Air Force to develop a supersonic aircraft, which could also serve as an Air Force One aircraft.
US Presidential and Executive Airlift Directorate (PE) gave Exosonic a contract. The collaboration between the two agencies was formed after Exosonic impressed the US military with its concept for a low-boom supersonic Mach 1.8 twinjet.
To give you more ideas, here are the key details you can expect.

Exosonic’s upcoming aircraft are expected to be used by US Executive Brachs prominent visitors or DVs. Apart from being used as an Air Force One, the giant manufacturer also said that it could also be used as an Air Force Two, which is the aircraft used to carry the US Vice President.

“With this concept, we plan to implement new technologies that are not available today, or that you (yet) do not see on commercial or business aircraft,” said Exosonic’s chief interior designer Stephanie Chahan.
“So whether they fly vice president or first lady, or first man, we would have a lot of flexibility here,” she added.
Exosonic’s upcoming supersonic jets are expected to have a range of 5,000 nautical miles.
Apart from this, it could also use softening techniques for booms, which can make it possible to reach almost twice the speed of sound without making too much noise.
On the other hand, the upcoming advanced aircraft boasts a speed of Mach 1.8, which is around 1381 miles per hour. This means that it can be twice as fast as the current cruising speed of a commercial long-haul aircraft.
Exosonic also added that the future US President Supersonic Jet could arrive by 2030.
Is it the fastest commercial jet?
Exosonic new aircraft may sound promising, but it may not be the fastest commercial jet since it is another aircraft rumored to reach five times the speed of sound. Byte previously reported that the US Air Force also awarded a contract to Hermeus, an aviation startup, to develop a commercial jet that could reach ultra-fast speeds up to Mach 5.
