A canceled Tomb Raider game from 2006 can now be played



Back in 2006, Core Design, the original studio behind Grave robber series, worked on a 1

0-year anniversary of the first game for PSP. While great progress was being made, the game was eventually canceled. Now the original PSP game has appeared and can be played, PC player reports.

December 31 at Grave robber fansite Tomb of Ash uploaded what it says PSP remake assets to The Internet archive. The assets include several levels, complete with puzzles and platforms. If you follow Tomb of Ash’s instructions, you will be able to play the unreleased PSP from 2006 Grave robber remake.

After some disappointing Grave robber games in the early 2000s, Core Design started developing PSP games, but still wanted to celebrate Lara and The Grave robber franchise in time for the 10th anniversary. The studio and finally got the green light to start working on a PSP remake of the original game. News of this remake leaked in 2006 via an internal video that ended up online.

Shortly after the leak, the game was canceled. Instead, publisher Sci Entertainment went with a multiplatform innovation developed by Crystal Dynamics. The game Tomb Raider Anniversary, released in 2007, while Core Design closed in 2010 after being bought by Rebellion and releasing things like Rogue Warrior.

Unlike Crystal Dynamics’ remake, this PSP take on Core is closer to the classic, original game, complete with clumsy jumping and movement. Interestingly, Tomb of Ash claims that Core was about to turn around restore to one Indiana Jones game.
