A 22-year-old woman who lost all her teeth to the method reveals what it is like to use dentures

A 22-year-old woman who lost all her teeth as a result of drug abuse is now working to teach others about the dangers of substance abuse in a series of candid videos.

Faith Hill, from Missouri, spent six years addicted to the record, during which time she lost friends, lost a shocking weight and eventually lost all her teeth due to decay caused by drug abuse.

Now sober, Faith was recently fitted with a new set of prostheses, and she has opened up about her experience with TikTok to encourage others to avoid drugs, while working to break the stigma surrounding prostheses.

Faith has come a long way since being intoxicated by drug addiction. In a TikTok video, she reflects on how she lost several friends to drugs and even attempted suicide.

What is ‘meth mouth’?

According to the American Dental Association, patients with ‘meth mouth’ have severe tooth decay and gum disease.

Almost all met users have cavities, most have untreated tooth decay, and many have six or more missing teeth.

Meth users usually have teeth that are ‘black, stained, rot, crumble and fall apart’, and often these teeth cannot be saved.

These problems are caused by both drug-induced psychological and physiological problems. Meth is also acidic and can contribute directly to tooth decay.

She became incredibly thin while on the record, was arrested once and checked in for rehabilitation eight times before sobriety set in.

‘I was on a six year long drug addiction to methamphetamine. I lived on the streets, the hotels, anywhere I could put my head, ‘she said.

‘I obviously did not take care of my teeth. Well, I thought I did, but I did not. And it caused a lot of breakage, a lot of rotting, and I finally got them removed. ‘

After being sober last year. Faith had to remove all her own teeth, and she spent two months without teeth or dentures.

“I legitimately have a Mike Tyson lisp,” she said at the time. ‘And I can not stand the way my mouth looks when I speak, I really can not.’

Looking back, she told BuzzFeed: ‘I was miserable during that time. I did not feel pretty, I felt disgusted. ‘

But in December, she received a new set of prostheses for the top and bottom of her mouth.

A basic set of dentures can cost up to $ 3,000. Faith was a gift from Heidi Lynn, a spa owner in Missouri.

She now proudly shows off her new smile on social media – but she also gamely demonstrates what it is like to take care of her dentures.

In the TikTok videos, she appears to put the dentures in the morning, apply the glue that makes them stick to the gums and slap them in the mouth.

In other videos, she films herself by taking them out at the end of the day, cleaning her mouth and brushing her false teeth.

A clip that has earned 3.8 million likes shows that Faith reveals what it looks like when she smiles without dentures.

‘It’s like an empty smile, there’s nothing there,’ she said. Stop asking me to smile like that – it looks scary.
