It is important to note that this is currently no more than a rumor. And like any other rumor, this should be taken with a salt grains. After all, all you can do to the bank is an official confirmation.
That said, it has not stopped Super Smash Bros. fans from responding to the news.

Oh, I hope that one of the free updates will be extra echoes, I'm willing to pay for them. I want a chance that Proto Man and Shadow can be played in Ultimate

Now the new modes for free sound are interesting, what if they made new echoes for free? I know that it is desirable complete thinking, but that's an idea

I hope it means either future echoes or especially future character skin alternatives

Modes ?? Holy shit Home run contest and Stage Builder actually have a chance! Maybe AND break the goals too ?!

As you can see, many fans hope that free updates after launch will include the addition of more echoes. But until this point, Nintendo has not revealed any intention to add more echoes in the game.
Meanwhile, other fans hope some classic modes, such as Break The Targets or Home Run will return.
At the moment all we can do is wait to see what Nintendo has on the sleeve, but fortunately, we must not wait very long. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is set to release next month on December 7 through Nintendo Switch, which means we should know more about Nintendo's plans for launch soon.
