Hyundai confirms that Palisade is the name of the new major crossover that will boost the automaker's setup. The name is not a surprise as it has been floating around for a while now, thanks to a US trademark application for the name filed earlier this year.
The Palisade eight passenger replaces Santa Fe XL, which is actually a transfer of the three lines 2018 Santa Fe sold together with the new, less 2019 Santa Fe. Santa Fe XL was too narrow for comfortable seven-passenger seating and fought to compete in a segment of Ford Explorer, Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander, Nissan Pathfinder, Mazda CX-9 and new listings such as the Volkswagen Atlas and Subaru Ascent
We have been waiting for Palisade since Hyundai showed the HDC-2 Grandmaster SUV concept earlier this year at South Korea's Busan Motor Show.
Palisade, designed largely for North America, given its size, will make its global debut on November 28 at the Los Angeles auto show. Palisade is a counterpart to Kia Telluride, also a passenger of 8 passengers.
Palisade is one of two brand new cars Hyundai will add next year when it goes on sale in the summer.
