Ford Ford will debut January 9 before the upcoming North American International Motor Show in Detroit.
Ford will debut the sixth generation Explorer at a special event at Ford Field the week before the annual Detroit show, which will open for media on January 12.
It's not clear which versions of Explorer we want to see, but Ford is supposed to work on a performance-focused ST version of the SUV as well as regular trimmer. 19659004] SEE ALSO: 2020 Ford Mustang GT500 Leaks Outside the Dealer Meeting
2020 Explorer will share the new CD6 platform with 2020 Lincoln Aviator, recently featured on the LA Auto Show in 2018, and will also offer a version of Ford's 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine. 3.0 liter engine makes 400 hp in Aviator, so Explorer ST can have similar performance on print.
We also hear that Explorer will be offered with rear wheel drive, with Ford's choice to offer all-wheel drive as an alternative.
2020 Explorer is one of the two major Ford debuts to be scheduled for Detroit. The car manufacturer will also showcase the high-expected Mustang GT500 on the show, which is expected to produce over 700 hp from a supercharged V8 engine, giving the right to the 650vk Chevrolet Camaro ZL1
