15 Google Home Theater Tips and Tricks to Getting Started [Video]



Google Home Hub is one of the best Smart Display options on the market, although there are very few options. It may not have a camera but strangely makes it one of the best options, especially because you have fewer privacy issues.

If you've happened to get the good but exceptionally sweet Home Hub as a gift or picked one up to compliment your home control system, these tips may prove helpful or at least add some light entertainment.

The best part is that most of these tips and tricks are not only limited to Google's home theater, they work almost everyone with Google Assistant on the smartphone, tablet, Wear OS smartwatch, Google Home and Google Home Mini, plus a few third-party speakers that support Google Assistant.

Please note: You need a mobile device to access almost all of these settings, tips and tricks. You may also need more than one speaker or access to a Google Chromecast device.

1. Download the Google Home app

If you're already familiar with the Google Home ecosystem, this is a great way to manage your entire home and smart home device even when you're not there. You also need this program to get all setup and use the home button with many of these extra settings and modes.


2. Set up Voice Match and attach it to specific devices

This is a pretty nice choice if, for example, you do not want people to be able to control specific speakers in your home, ie an office or perhaps in the kitchen for Example. When you do, only your voice will ask the assistant to respond.

How to register your voice match voice

  1. Open the Google Home app  Google Home .
  2. Press Menu ] Menu .
  3. At the top right of the Home screen, click Devices  Devices . Tap the device you want to connect to your voice.
  4. Tap Connect your account > Continue .
  5. Follow the steps.

How to link your voice to specific Google Home devices

  1. Open the Google Home app  Google Home .
  2. At the top left of the Home screen, click Menu  Menu > More Settings .
  3. Under "Account", press Voice Match .
  4. Touch to add more devices connected to your Wi-Fi network.

3. Add Home Members

To ensure Google Home is secure, you can only allow people you trust and use the devices in your home. Adding a Home Member Gives Family Members the Opportunity to:

  • Add New Devices, such as Speakers or a Smart Bulb
  • Use and Modify the Home Device Settings
  • Automatically Connect Media Services, such as YouTube, to Speakers, smart monitors and built-in Chromecast devices in your home
  • Add and remove other home members, including you – so it's important that the person you add is someone you really trust.

How to invite members to a home

  1. Open the Google Home app  Google Home .
  2. Switch to the home you want to share.
  3. At the top, click Add  ADD > Add New Home Member .
  4. Enter the email address of the person you want to invite.
  5. Tap Save > Confirm .

4. Guest Mode Setup

You may want your friends to be able to Chromecast to your TV or control your home network when they come over, so it's a great way to not have continuous adding to guest mode. and remove people from the list of home members. It is also much safer than doing it for anyone coming around!

Guest mode works with anyone who wants to throw when they are in the same room or nearby as a Chromecast enabled device. All they have to do is enter a 4-digit PIN (which changes) to connect each time they visit. Of course, it includes the home button!

How to insert Guest mode (like the host)

  1. Your phone or tablet must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Google home to configure or manage guest mode settings.
  2. Open the Google Home app  Google Home app .
  3. Touch the device you want to configure with guest mode> Settings   Settings icon .
  4. Touch guest mode.
  5. Turn guest mode on On or Off  On .

How to connect to a guest

  1. Open all Chromecast-enabled app and press Cast button   Active cast extension .
  2. Select Nearby Device and follow the instructions to connect.
  3. If audio pairing fails, you must enter the four-digit PIN code provided by the host. See the instructions below for where to find the PIN.

5. Create a speaker group

This is a lovely new feature that has recently come to Google Home Hub – you can now create a paired speaker group so your sound is played simultaneously over a selected group of your Google Home speakers.

Any audio device can be connected, which includes Chromecast Audio devices and Chromecast built-in speakers.

How to create a speaker group

  1. Open your Google app on your mobile device  Google Home app .
  2. Make sure:
    1. All audio devices are set up on the same Wi-Fi network.
    2. Your phone or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as audio devices.
